Minibus Hire Prerequisites

All drivers must hold a valid driver's licence, be over age 25 and hold a current MiDAS certificate before minibus hire can be booked.

Drivers don't require any special additions to their licence as under current UK law anyone who holds a normal driving licence and has been driving for two years is entitled to drive one of our minibuses provided they are not rewarded for their time (i.e. drivers should not be paid).

Polar Minibus Association add the additional minimum age and MiDAS course requirements and will arrange MiDAS training. (The maximum age for driving a PMA minibus is 70.)

MiDAS is the Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme, developed by Hampshire County Council and the Community Transport Association; to provide a consistent skills level for largely volunteer minibus drivers, and to improve the safety of their passengers and other road users. Certification lasts for 4 years.

Courses are run 3 times a year, on the second Saturday in February, June and October. Get in touch to check availability and book yourself onto a MiDAS course.
