Vehicles
Based in Bristol, there are five minibuses; 3 with 15 seats, 1 with 16 and 1 with 17. (Seating includes the driver). The 17 seater requires a D1 Licence, but the others can be driven on a normal B1 licence. Drivers must be over 25 and have at least 2 years driving experience. Drivers should have taken a MiDAS (minibus driver assessment) course run by the Community Transport Association.
Keys and a log sheet can be collected from Bishopston. The vehicles are kept in a compound in Horfield, Bristol.
Rates
Bookings are charged per mile. The price includes the fuel (Diesel), which will be deducted from the invoice on presentation of a VAT receipt. Because of recent fuel price increases we have had to amend prices recently but they stand at £1.80 per mile for the first 100 miles and £1.35 for additional miles at the time of writing. In the event of an accident or damage you will be required to pay the insurance excess of £400 or the cost of repairs up to this sum.
The only minibus that is exempt from clean air zone (CAZ) charges in Bristol and Bath is the 16 seater. For all the others entering the zone it is the hirers responsibility to pay the fee (currently £9.00). If the fee is not paid and Polar Minibus is subsequently charged a penalty this will be charged to the hirer.

Polar Minibus Association was set up in 2007 by Scout leaders in Bristol to provide transport for Scout Groups, Guides, Schools and other youth groups.
